submission day

Today is submission day! I’m sending out a magazine query and a poetry submission. Wish me luck. Then I’ll look over recent submission guidelines and figure out what to send out next. My goal is to have submission day once a month—it’ll keep me focused.

Here’s a sample of a poem called Performance.

Performance by Tara M Waysok

I was a musician

I wrote mellow tunes

Finger-picking acoustic guitar solos

Vocals danced with the notes, the beats, the themes

Fear succeeded.

I’d never muster another song—

Simple melodies

Unworthy of your ears

The critic attacked

Burned my lyrics

Changed the notes

Crossed out every word and

Destroyed every aspect of my music

When all I

Wanted was to perform

For you
